We call Samaritan Aviation “an adventure in faith” because it developed from little more than a desire to make a difference and simple faith that God would provide.
The dream for the organization was sparked when two college students, Gary and Mark, were living with villagers on a remote island off the North Coast of Papua New Guinea. The medical and spiritual needs these young men encountered had to be addressed and so the adventure began.
The early days of Samaritan Aviation were met with many challenges and skepticism, yet the two pushed on, almost blindly at times. They enlisted the help of a few dedicated board members and before long there was a small team working together.
Next came advisors, medical suppliers, and then one sweet day…an airplane. It was a humble aircraft but the organization had finally sprouted wings. That airplane was put to work and delivered thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies to remote clinics before it was sold on ebay and replaced with a bigger and faster version.
The vision for the ministry expanded from Papua New Guinea to include migrant farmers in Mexico, patients who need transportation in the Southwestern United States, and national missionaries around the world who need a better multimedia tool for sharing the story of Christ’s love.
There have been many close calls on this adventure that range from aircraft engine failure at night to being lost at sea. However, God has been there every step of the way...quietly guiding, providing, and protecting.
Over the past ten years Samaritan Aviation has been privileged to touch the lives of thousands of individuals who desperately needed someone to stop and care. Through the generosity of our supporters we have provided millions of dollars in medical aid and have shared Christ’s love through action in some of the most remote parts of the world.
This adventure is still in progress and as you look through the pages of this site we hope you will be inspired to join us or start your own “adventure in faith.”
